My Top 10 Filming Tips

1. Don't zoom in and out. Pick one and leave it. Preferably stay zoomed out. Editing software can zoom in later if needed.
2. Pan slower than you think is necessary. People tend to usually move too fast from one object to another. It's annoying.
3. Wait a few seconds before you start talking. First words are often missed from the beginning of a scene. It helps editing later.
4. Wait a few seconds (and remain still) after you finish talking before pushing the stop or pause button. This assists editing later.
5. Use a tripod or stable surface if you are zooming in on an object otherwise you will still have shakey resultant footage.
6. Turn your head sideways when you speak otherwise your voice may be too loud compared to others in resultant footage.
7. If you want to make sure the person you're filming talks to the camera instead of your face, hide your face behind the camera!
8. If you have nightshot option on your camera, don't switch it on/off while shooting. Choose on/off and then film the scene.
9. Can't fit a tall object in the shot? DON'T tilt the video camera. (People do this!) Move back further or shoot the important part only.
     10. Set function correctly. People often think they are recording when they are actually on "pause". And people often record the path
they are walking along or the inside of the their bags or pockets thinking that the camera is actually set on "off" or "pause".
